Emmy Trends Include Big Earrings and Rings
Large chandelier earrings, long diamond drop earrings and substantial cocktail rings were the big winners on the red carpet at the 2003 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles Sept. 21. Overall, the jewelry ensembles were simple this year, allowing one substantial piece to take the spotlight.
The most popular accessory was a pair of goddess-like chandelier earrings. Joan Rivers and Edie Falco wore diamond versions, Debra Messing wore gold earrings with 50 carats of pink tourmalines and Jane Kaczmarek wore large gold chandeliers.
Long diamond drops dangled from the ears of Courtney Cox Arquette, Allison Janney, Wanda Sykes and Doris Roberts.
Enormous statement rings were hard to miss. Roberts wore one on her pinky. Style-setter Sarah Jessica Parker pared her jewelry down, wearing one large ring on her left hand and a lacy bracelet on her right arm.
Bracelets (predominantly set with diamonds) were also worn by Christina Applegate, Arquette and Falco.
Flouting the simplified trend, Paula Abdul donned a diamond tiara and thick diamond choker.
