JIC Will Honor Yurman and Cartier
The Jewelry Information Center will hold its second annual Gem Awards Jan. 9, 2004, at Cipriani 42nd St. in New York City. The gala will take place during the Twenty-Four Karat Club weekend, when industry leaders gather in New York for a variety of events.
The Gem Awards were introduced in January 2003 to recognize consumer journalists who cover jewelry and watches. Each year, the event also recognizes a retailer for excellence in marketing and promotion, and awards a lifetime achievement honor.
In 2004, the retail marketing and promotion award will go to Cartier, for its decade of brand building among consumers and the industry. David and Sybil Yurman of David Yurman Inc. will be honored with the lifetime achievement award. Journalists' awards will be announced at a later date.
Deborah Norville will again serve as mistress of ceremonies for the Gem Awards and Steven Kaiser of Kaiser Time is the event chairman. Terri Eagle of David Yurman is the commemorative journal chair. The committee helping Kaiser and Eagle consists of Lowell Kwiat of Kwiat Inc.; Stanislas de Quercize of Cartier; John Green of Lux, Bond & Green; Koichi Takahashi of Rosy Blue; Linda Buckley of Tiffany & Co.; Stacie Orloff of Corum USA; Myriam Gumuchian Schreiber of Gumuchian Fils; Rachel Rosin; Kathryn Kimmel of the Gemological Institute of America; Steve Shonebarger of Bulgari Corp. of America; Jame Kerwin of Kerwin Communications; and Matthew Runci of Jewelers of America.
Tickets are $500 for the black-tie event. To purchase tickets or inquire about sponsorship opportunities, call JIC at (646) 658-0240.
