Tucson's GLDA Show To Change Venue

The Gem and Lapidary Dealers Association Show held at Tucson, AZ, for more than two decades is changing its location in 2005. "We're moving to the brand- new Marriott Starr Pass Resort Hotel," says the GLDA Show.

For 2004, the GLDA Show will be located at the Radisson (formerly Holiday Inn) on Broadway Avenue, where its dealers have exhibited since the show began in Tucson. Its proximity to the American Gem Trade Association GemFair at the Tucson Convention Center and the nearby Gem and Jewelry Exchange makes GLDA part of a nucleus of competing shows in downtown Tucson.

The move will take GLDA five miles out of the downtown area. GLDA says the new venue will attract dealers and buyers, and is only a ten-minute drive from downtown. The show will start Feb. 1, 2005, ahead of other shows, and run to Feb. 6. GLDA cites the following reasons for picking the Starr Pass:
• Centralized convention area.
• Increased booth space.
• 500 car underground parking.
• Shuttle services.
• Proximity to restaurants and coffee shops.
• Spa, swimming pools and golf course.

The Tucson gem and mineral shows are a major event for buyers and sellers of loose colored gemstones from around the world.
