IGI Funds East River Bridge Lights

The International Gemological Institute and three other New York City companies each donated $20,000 for each of the next two years to fund the relighting of New York City's four East River bridges – the Brooklyn, Williamsburg, Manhattan and Queensboro spans.

The necklace lights on the bridges, which outline each structure, were turned off eight months ago due to budget constraints. The 906 100-watt mercury-vapor bulbs will be relit during a ceremony this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the River Café near the Brooklyn Bridge.

The River Cafe, IGI, the law firm Carter Ledyard & Millburn and currency exchange company Travelex donated a total of $160,000 to fund the lights for the next two years.
