PGI Appoints Head of New York City Office

Michael O'Connor was appointed senior vice president, public relations & trade relations east, for Platinum Guild International-USA, the U.S. jewelry marketing arm for the worldwide platinum industry. announced PGI-USA. O'Connor will open PGI-USAs New York City office, which will serve as the headquarters for PGI's U.S. public relations functions.

By establishing the East Coast office, PGI-USA will be able to support new outreach programs to help retailers and manufacturers convert consumer demand for platinum into sales. He worked as a consultant to the Couture Jewellery Collection & Conference, Luxury, Luxury Watch and JCK shows and served on the advisory board of The Plumb Club.

As a guest lecturer at the Fashion Institute of Technology and the JCK Show, O'Connor has spoken on the topics of jewelry and fashion design, consumer trends, public relations, marketing and branding.

Prior to his work at Goldstein Communications, O'Connor served as director of corporate marketing for Frederick Goldman Inc., where he was responsible for marketing, public relations, advertising and brand development for its portfolio of brands.

O'Connor will report to Daniel and will be responsible for developing, directing and monitoring all public relations and publicity programs in the U.S. Additionally, he'll build on existing and develop new relationships with key East Coast manufacturers, designers and retailers and establish and maintain relationships with trade associations and institutions. He will work with Frank Proctor, PGI-USA's vice president and Jenny Luker, director of trade relations for center and west, both based in Newport Beach, CA.
