New Vegas Show Attracting Buyers, New Suppliers

The Strategic International Jewelry Show, a new June Las Vegas show during what has become known as "Jewelry Week" reports strong early response from attendees and exhibitors. More than 80% of its exhibitors have never appeared in Las Vegas before and are from around the world. The show takes place June 3-6 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

'It's been just over two weeks since our advertising program launched in National Jeweler, Modern Jeweler and Professional Jeweler, and in this short time period we received more advanced buyer registrations then we expected," says Jim Reed, president of Strategic Events Inc. He says buyers from across the country and all segments of the jewelry industry are responding to the new show. Currently, buyers preregistered to attend the show include 27% small retailers; 46% medium sized retailers; and 23% large independent retailers and mass merchants. Some of the preregistered buyers include King's Jewelry, Hudson-Poole, Aucoin Hart Jewelers, Betteridge and J.C. Penney.

"Interest is increasing daily among the jewelry manufacturers as well," says Reed. "We expect 500 to 600 booths our first year, which will make SIJS the second largest show in Las Vegas during Jewelry Week." The show will feature jewelry manufacturers from Italy, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Sri Lanka, Turkey, the U.S., Canada and more. "Since most of our exhibitors have never exhibited in Las Vegas before, jewelry retailers who want to see new and unique designs won't want to miss the Strategic International Jewelry Show," says Reed.
