Schachter & Namdar Joins With Goldberg

Schachter & Namdar Group formed a strategic alliance with William Goldberg, bringing together one of Israel's leading diamond manufacturers and exporters with a high-end diamond house. New York City-based Goldberg gained its reputation cutting large diamonds such as the Guinea Star, an 89-ct. shield-shaped gem, as well as a recent 100-ct. D IF oval, the largest certified by the Gemological Institute of America. The alliance is expected to bring Goldberg access to an import source of large rough, while giving Schachter & Namdar a connection to the high-end market.

"There's a tremendous synergy between our two companies," says Elliot Tannenbaum, principal at Schachter & Namdar. "We share similar business goals and we are both family-run companies with a 50-year-plus heritage." Schachter & Namdar has a diamond cut brand called The Leo® diamond, while Goldberg has an exclusive patent for the Ashoka® diamond, an elongated cushion cut with rounded corners. "We are both sucessful second-generation firms in a strong position in our sector of the business," says Saul Goldberg, president of William Goldberg. "We have now secured new sources of rough [through the alliance] and ensured our continued strength and growth." Both companies have offices in the major diamond capitals.
