H. Stern to Create von Furstenberg Jewelry Collection

H. Stern and Diane von Furstenberg will team to offer a jewelry collection inspired by von Furstenberg's lifestyle and personality. H. Stern's flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York City will be first to offer the collection, starting in October.

"What attracted us to Diane von Furstenberg is her personal style and her many accomplishments in the world of style over the years," says Roberto Stern, president and chief designer for H. Stern. "She's a great womenswear designer, but most of all, a self-made woman who started at a time when self-made women didn't exist. She's a businesswoman with a powerful yet feminine aura surrounding her; her style is timeless and forever young. All of these things inspired us to create jewelry that would not only embody her spirit and her lifestyle, but would also appeal to the women of today."

The collaborative effort also appeals to von Furstenberg, who says she had always dreamed about being involved with jewelry design. "I spotted H. Stern more than 20 years ago for its very fine quality, workmanship and designs" she says. "I approached them and finally seduced them."

H. Stern says features of the von Furstenberg collection include:
• 18k gold jewels.
• Dramatic shapes.
• Innovative uses of diamonds and gemstones.
• Retail prices ranging from $600 to $35,000.

H. Stern says it will support the new collection with an advertising campaign beginning in the October issues of consumer lifestyle and fashion publications. This will be followed by international von Furstenberg Collection launches at other H. Stern stores. H. Stern operates 160 stores in a dozen countries.
