Finlay's Sales Up in Second Quarter

Finlay Enterprises Inc.'s comparable department store sales grew 3.2% for the second quarter ended July 31 from the same period in 2003. Total sales increased 3.5% to $189 million compared to $182 million a year earlier.

For the first half of fiscal 2004, comparable department store sales increased 5%. Total sales increased 5.2% to $376 million, compared to $358 million in the first half of 2003. Finlay estimates comp-store sales for the second half of 2004 will grow 2%-2.5% over 2003.

Retailer Finlay is the largest operator of leased fine jewelry departments in department stores throughout the U.S.
