Angry Guest Hurls Wine at Yurmans

Jewelry designers David and Sybil Yurman got into an altercation with another guest who hurled a drink at them at In Style magazine's cocktail party at New York City restaurant Spice Market Nov. 8, reports New York Daily News columnist Lloyd Grove.

Details of the confrontation were sketchy yesterday – and neither the Yurmans nor other witnesses would speak to Grove – but Grove said sources said things got testy when Sybil emphatically ordered a noisy group at the next table to quiet down.

Grove reported a young man at the noisy table left the scene, only to return with a full wineglass and throw it at both Yurmans, causing the glass to shatter. No report as to whether the wine was red or white. The wine-hurler departed, and the Yurmans stayed on.

On Tuesday, a spokeswoman for the Yurmans told Grove: "The whole situation was very intense. There was an incident that was resolved quickly, and the Yurmans stayed on and had a good time."
