Jewelry Atop List of Spam Purchases

Apparel, jewelry and software topped the list of items most purchased by consumers through unsolicited e-mail, according to a new study conducted by Forrester Data on behalf of the Business Software Alliance and the Council of Better Business Bureaus, says DirectNewsline.

The survey asked 1,000 Internet users in each of six countries – the U.S., Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom – their attitudes towards unsolicited e-mail.

According to the study, although more than 90% of U.S. Internet users receive a variety of spam and only read about a fifth of it, about 22% of consumers admit to having purchased jewelry through spam.
