Industry Fund Established for Tsunami Relief

The American Gem Trade Association, the American Gem Society, the Gemological Institute of America and the International Colored Gemstone Association are organizing an industry-wide relief effort for the tsunami victims, called the Jewelry Industry Relief Fund, administered through Save the Children, a non-profit organization for the aid of children and families, to provide relief through its Asia Earthquake/Tidal Wave Relief Fund.

As a courtesy, Save the Children have agreed to track jewelry industry donations. AGTA asks you to reference JIRF when pledging online, by mail or telephone.

To donate online, go to savethechildren.org. When filling out the donation form, type "JIRF" in the first address field and your mailing address in the second address field so the donation may be tracked and attributed to the jewelry industry.

By phone, call Save the Children at (800) 728-3843 and mention the code JIRF when you speak to a representative for tracking purposes. By mail, send a check to Meredith McWade, director global corporate partnerships, Save the Children, 54 Wilton Rd., Westport, CT 06880, and write JIRF in the memo line. If you have any questions contact AGTA at (800) 972-1162.
