GIA New York Career Fair Slated for July 29

Four speakers from some of the gem and jewelry industry's leading companies are scheduled to address the opening "Working to Win" session of the Gemological Institute of America's New York Jewelry Career Fair, which takes place July 29, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

The speakers are Mary Forté, president and CEO of Zale Corp.; Glenn Rothman, CEO and founder of the Hearts On Fire diamond brand; Ofer Azrielant, CEO of Jewelry.com, the top consumer jewelry website; and Rahul Kadakia, senior vice president and head of the jewelry department at Christie's auction house. They will offer job seekers insights into their success and tips on how to build different career paths in the jewelry industry.

"We're really pleased and appreciative that these highly accomplished professionals have volunteered their time to speak at Career Fair," says Kathryn Kimmel, GIA's vice president of marketing and public relations and a co-founder of the event. "They each represent an important aspect of the industry, and they have an inspiring and unique story to tell. I'm sure everyone who attends will gain a clearer understanding of this fascinating industry."

Jewelry Career Fair, the industry's largest one-day recruiting event, is the perfect opportunity for employers to meet candidates in an atmosphere conducive to success. Recruiting takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Lux Bond & Green President John Green says Career Fair is "the premier industry event for recruiting talented future jewelry employees. We've been very pleased with the quality of the individuals."

Besides meeting with prospective employers, job-seekers can also receive one-on-one career coaching from experienced industry experts. In addition, panel discussions will reveal how to succeed in specific skill areas. Attendees can also get advice on preparing a résumé and network with other job-seekers.

Career Fair was founded by GIA and The Jewelers 24 Karat Club of Southern California. Prime sponsor for the New York Career Fair is The VNU Jewelry Group.
