HK January Show Announces Conference Program

The inaugural Hong Kong January Show, scheduled Jan. 17 - 20 at the Asia World Expo, will provide two days of seminars targeted to industry retailers and suppliers. The speaker line-up includes jewelry industry analyst Ken Gassman, who will present a speech to retailers entitled ̉American Markets Still Booming." Gassman's second presentation to suppliers is called "Asian Markets Will Realize the Promise."

Also, Mickey Weinstock, master diamond cutter/diamond dealer and president of Guangzhou Mickey Weinstock, Ltd., which is a part of the CSSightholder group based in Hong Kong, will present "European Markets Present Solid Opportunity." Paula Peterson, consultant on the luxury consumer, will present "American Luxury Markets Still Growing" (for suppliers and retailers); Peter Yantzer, executive director of American Gem Society Laboratories, will present "The New AGS Cut Grading System;" and Eddie Prentice, managing director of CRU Publishing and general manager of Trends Forecasting Ltd., will present "European Markets Set Trends."

Retailer seminars on Jan. 17 will focus on the continuing growth of the American luxury market and the opportunities presented by European markets. Supplier seminars on Jan. 16 will address the promising Asian markets, European trend-setting, the continued boom of the American market and the new AGS cut grading system.

"Helping our buyers and exhibitors start the new year with valuable information that can help them compete effectively is a prime goal of our show," says Show Director B.K. Chow. An entrance fee of approximately $20 per person per session will be donated, in full, to UNICEF. Anyone who registers before December 15 will be charged $15.

Along with the conference program, other show preparations are progressing well. "We are very pleased with industry reception of our new show particularly because it is a trade-only event. Our commitment to buyer and exhibitor needs is paramount, and we are seeing the fruits of our efforts realized with steady buyer registration," says Chow.
