JVC Appoints Assistant Counsel

The Jewelers Vigilance Committee named Rebecca Halperin JVC's assistant general counsel. In her post, Halperin will be responsible for supervising legal cases brought by the JVC, mediation, conducting seminars and education sessions, advising industry members on legal compliance matters and investigations. Halperin started at JVC Jan. 12.

According to Cecilia Gardner, JVC's president, CEO and general counsel: "JVC's board of directors is delighted Rebecca Halperin has joined JVC. Rebecca is well positioned to add a great deal of her own experience to the work of the JVC. In her former position at Kirkland & Ellis International LLP, Rebecca drafted briefs, conducted client interviews and document collection; assisted expert witnesses with responses; drafted pleadings, including complaints, motions, briefs, subpoenas and protective agreements; and assisted with undercover investigations."

Halperin graduated with honors from New York University School of Law and the University of Pennsylvania. She resides in New York City.
