CRJP Requests Industry Input on Code of Practices

The Council for Responsible Jewellery Practices (CRJP), a consortium of industry members promoting ethical business, social and environmental practices, has released a draft of its Code of Practices and is requesting industry input through its Web site at responsiblejewellery.com.

The Code of Practices outlines recommedations for the responsible behavior of jewelry industry members. The code outlines topics such as disclosure, adherence to the Kimberly Process certification, human rights, labor practices and environmental practices.

Industry members, as well as government officials and members of other non-government organizations, are invited to complete CRJP's online survey before July 3, 2006.

Meanwhile, the Council announced the addition of 13 new members to the CRJP. New members include AMC Diamonds; AngloGold Ashanti; Argor-Heraeus AS; the British Jewellers Association; Dalumi Diamonds; I. Hennig & Co. Ltd.; Leo Schacter Diamonds; National Mining Association; Overseas Diamonds NV/Isee2; PX Precinox SA; Roberto Coin; Rothschild Diamonds Ltd.; and the World Gold Council.
