GIA Career Fairs to Feature Top Companies

The Gemological Insitute of America will host its 16th annual Jewelry Career Fairs on two coasts, featuring top-name companies in the industry. The East Coast event will take place Friday, July 28 in New York City at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, just before the JA Summer Show. The West Coast fair will be held Friday, Oct. 27 in Carlsbad, Calif. While participating companies have not been confirmed for the 2006 fair, last year's Career Fairs drew recruiters from more than 80 companies, including Tiffany & Co., Fortunoff, Zale Corp., Sterling Jewelers, Whitehall Jewelers, De Beers, Helzberg Diamonds, Ben Bridge Jeweler, Hearts On Fire and Movado Group Inc.

More than 1,700 job seekers attended the two Career Fairs in 2005.

"Recruiters value these one-day events because they target a select pool of highly qualified job candidates while being convenient, inexpensive and effective for the companies," says Kathryn Kimmel, Career Fair creator and GIA's vice president of marketing and public relations, in a release.
