Friedman's Moves to Dallas

Friedman's Inc., the third largest specialty jewelry retailer in the United States, is relocating its corporate headquarters to a suburb of Dallas, Texas, after more than 85 years in the city of its founding, Savannah, Ga.

According to the Dallas Business Journal, the company has signed a 10-year lease for nearly half of a two-story office building in the Dallas suburb of Addison. The retailer has been located in Savannah since 1920. Real estate brokers who helped the company in its transactions indicated the company has been having difficulties recruiting and retaining people in its Savannah location.

The move represents somewhat of a fresh start for Friedman's, which just emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and suffered a year of fraud allegations, lawsuits, earnings restatements and shakeups among its executive team last year, the Journal reports.
