Israeli Diamond Exchange Opens Technology Wing

The Israeli diamond industry opened a new technology wing at the Israel Diamond Exchange yesterday to make advanced technology for examining, mapping, photographing and laser marketing diamonds available to all members.

The equipment, by manufacturers such as Sarin, Ogi and DiamondsView, will be accessible all member diamond traders, many of whom are unable to invest in such expensive equipment. The new wing was sponsored by the Diamond Exchange, while most of the technological equipment was made available by the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI).

"This is the first room of its type at any diamond bourse in the world," says Avi Paz, president of the Israel Diamond Exchange, in a release. "Our goal is to better serve our members, especially the younger generation and the smaller diamond companies. We hope this will set a precedent that will be copied by other diamond exchanges."
