Diamond Trading Co. Opens Sightholder Directory to Public
For the first time, the Diamond Trading Co., the sales and marketing arm of De Beers, has published a list of its 93 sightholders on a Web site open to the public.
The site is available at www.dtc.com/sightholder and also features profiles on sightholders and associated companies. Users can search by name, location and business type.
The site features a search engine of rough dealers, polished manufacturers, jewelry manufacturers and retailers who are the sightholders through 2007. The DTC is promoting the companies as experts in their field who have marketing expertise and adhere to the DTC's "Diamond Best Practice Principles" which dictate full disclosure of diamond treatments and the sale of conflict-free diamonds.
The site also promotes the sightholders as stable partners who can plan ahead effectively when entering into supply and marketing commitments because of their supply commitment from the DTC.
