Kay Jewelers to Donate Profits from Holiday Plush Sales to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Akron, Ohio - While some holiday gifts sparkle, others help save children's lives. This season, Kay Jewelers is offering a soft, huggable plush puppy named "Graham" to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. "Graham" is available through December 24 at Kay Jewelers stores nationwide.

Kay Jewelers' customers can take "Graham" home for just $9.99 with any purchase. "Graham" is eighth in a series of limited-edition St. Jude plush collectibles exclusive to Kay Jewelers. "Graham" dons winter apparel plus a signature ear tag and gift bag inspired by artwork created by St. Jude patients.

All profits, no less than $4 of the purchase price of each holiday plush item, will be donated to St. Jude. Last year alone, sales of the plush items, along with corporate and employee donations, totaled more than $2 million. Since partnering with St. Jude in 1999, Kay Jewelers has contributed more than $8 million to the hospital.

"Kay Jewelers is a very special member of the St. Jude family. They have truly embraced the mission of our founder, Danny Thomas," said John P. Moses, Chief Executive Officer of ALSAC, the fund-raising organization of St. Jude. "This is clearly a company with a conscience. Their support of St. Jude at every level from corporate leadership to store managers and their teams demonstrates their commitment to the dream of St. Jude founder Danny Thomas that no child should die in the dawn of life. "We are very grateful for their commitment to our mission."

The funds raised from each plush puppy benefit St. Jude's Thanks and Giving program‹an unprecedented coming together of celebrities, media, retail and corporate partners that asks the public to "give thanks for the healthy kids in their lives, and give to those who are not, with the hope that some day all children will be healthy." The Thanks and Giving initiative was created in 2004 by St. Jude National Outreach Director Marlo Thomas and her siblings Terre and Tony Thomas, children of Danny Thomas. Funds raised by the campaign support the life-saving mission of St. Jude to find cures for catastrophically ill children in communities everywhere. Customers nationwide are asked to help raise funds at participating retailers by adding a donation at checkout or by purchasing specialty items to benefit St. Jude. Donations also can be made online at www.stjude.org, where a complete list of fund-raising partners is available, or by calling 1-800-4-STJUDE.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. No family ever pays St. Jude for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fund-raising organization.
