The Lesotho Promise - The 15th largest diamond ever found

The HRD (Diamond High Council) will hold a press conference on Monday, October 9, 2006, to announce the results of the tender of the 15th largest diamond ever found, the Lesotho Promise.

The 603-ct. diamond was put up for sale on October 4, 2006, through a private tender in Antwerp. The tender process is expected to be completed by October 9, with an announcement of the winning bid at the Antwerp World Diamond Center.

The Lesotho Promise is the largest reported find this century and ranks as the 15th largest diamond ever found. It was discovered on August 22, 2006, at the Letseng Diamond Mine in the southern African kingdom of Lesotho. The Minister of Natural Resources for Lesotho, Dr. Mamphono Khaketla, will personally announce the winner during the press conference.
